Helen Richardson Khan was born to an Anglo Indian father and Burmese mother. She started her career as chorus dancer in the films "Shabistan "and "Awaara". Dia Mirza was born in Hyderabad to a German father and a Bengali mother. Her father died when she was just nine years old. Dia's mother Deepa Mirja was remarried to Ahmad Mirza, whose surname Dia Mirza took. Dia Mirza was second runner up in Miss India Beauty contest in 2000. Diya Mirja won the Miss Asia Pacific in the same year at manila in Philippines.

Diya Mirza made her cinematic debut with "Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein" opposite R. Madhavan, who is a Tamil film star. The film did average business at box office. Babita was born as Bhambhani to actor Hari Shivdashani in a traditional Sindhi family. She is now better known as the mother of Bollywood stars Karishma Kapoor and Karina Kapoor. Babita is niece of erstwhile actress Sadhana. G P Sippy gave her breakthrough in his film "Dus lakh" but her first released film was "Raj" with another debutant Rajesh Khanna. Asha Parekh was born at Bangalore in a Gujrati family. She is commonly known as jubilee girl as most of her films celebrated Silver jubilee or Golden jubilee at box office. Asha Parekh started learning Indian classical dance at an early age. Jubilee girl made her debut in Bollywood as child artiste in the film "Aasmaan". Film director Bimal Roy saw her dance at a stage show and cast her in his film "Baap Beti". Guru Dutt was born at Bangalore in Karnatka to Shivsankar Rao Padukone and Vasanthi Padukone. Guru Dutt did his schooling at Kolkata, where his father was an administrative clerk in Burmah Shell Company. Guru Dutt joined the Uday Shankar India Culture Centre at Almora, Uttaranchal on a five year scholarship of Rs. 75 annually. After completing his studies at Almora Dutt moved to Mumbai where his uncle arranged a job under three year contract with Prabhat Film Company in Pune. Guru Dutt met two great actors Rehman and Dev Anand in Prabhat Film Company and they developed good friendship.

Guru Dutt made his debut in films with a small role as Sri Krishna in the film "Chand". Then he acted as well as assisted director Vishram Bedekar in the movie "Lakhrani". Prabhat Film Company collapsed in 1947 and Guru Dutt moved to Mumbai. In Mumbai Guru Dutt worked with two leading directors of that time- Amiya Chakravarthy and Gyan Mukherjee. Thereafter Dev Anand offered him a job as director in his new production company, Navketan. As director at Navketan his first film was "Baazi". Guru Dutt used close-up shots with 100mm lens camera in the film "Baazi", which later became famous as 'Guru Dutt Shots' in the Indian cinema. The film "Baazi" was an immediate success. Guru Dutt gave many super hit films as director as well as actor. Some of them were "Aar Paar", "Mr. & Mrs. 55", "Pyasa", "C I D", "Sailab", "Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam" and "Chaudhvin Ka Chand'. Mini Biography:
Govinda was born to former actor Arun Ahuja and singer Nirmala Arun Ahuja. Govinda made his debut in the film "Ilzam" which was a successful film. He did a string of movies after that with mixed success. Govinda was often paired opposite Actress Neelam and together they appeared in hit films such as "Love 86", "Khudgarz" and "Hatya".

Govinda also gave successful family drama films such as "Dariya Dil", "Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni" and "Hum" but Govinda is known more for his comedy films with director David Dhawan. Govinda worked with David Dhawan for the first time in an action film "Taaqatwar". Since then he has acted in more than 17 films directed by David Dhawan and most them are comedy. Some of his Successful comedy films are "Shola Aur Shabnam", "Aankhen", "Raja Babu" , "Coolie No. 1" , "Saajan Chale Sasural" , "Hero No. 1" , "Deewana Mastana" , "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" "Haseena Maan Jaayegi" and "Jodi No. 1" . Govinda has acted in many films opposite Karishma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon.

Govinda also played the role of a villain, for the first time in his career in the film "Shikari". Although the movie was not a commercial success, Govinda's convincing portrayal of a sociopath murderer was appreciated. Govinda took break from acting for some time and joined the Congress party and was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower House of Parliament from Mumbai. Govinda made a comeback to films in the late 2006 with the comedy film "Bhagam Bhag" alongside Akshay Kumar and the film was a success. His latest release is the David Dhawan directed romantic comedy "Partner" with co-star Salman Khan. The film grossed Rs. 300 Million in India on its opening week, the second highest domestic opening week gross for an Indian film.

  • He had a narrow escape from death on January 5, 1994. While travelling to a studio for the shooting of the film "Khuddar", the actor's car hit another car, resulting in serious injuries to his head. Though bleeding profusely, Govinda did not cancel the shooting. After visiting a doctor, he shot for the film till midnight.

Feroz Khan was born at Bangalore in India to an Afghan Father, Sadiq Khan and an Iranian mother Fatima. After schooling from Bangalore he shifted to Bombay and made his debut as the second lead in the film "Didi". Next few years Firoz Khan continued to play second lead hero in most of the movies. His first big hit film was "Oonche Log". In his next film "Arzoo", Feroz played a sacrificing lover. Firoz Khan won his first Filmfare Award as Best Supporting Actor for the film "Aadmi Aur Insaan".

Feroze Khan turned producer and director so as to improve his opportunity as a lead hero. Feroz Khan produced, directed and starred in the film "Dharmatma" which was the first Indian film to be shot in Afghanistan and was also his first blockbuster as producer, director and star. He was one of the many actors to appear in the cult classic horror film "Nagin" which also had his brother Sanjay in one of the leading roles. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he was the top Bollywood star in films and often directed and starred in many of his films. The movie "Qurbani" was the biggest hit of his career and also launched the singing career of Nazia Hassan. Firoz Khan took break from acting after his last film "Yalgar" and concentrated on production and direction. He launched his son Fardeen Khan with the film "Prem Agan" which was however a flop film.
